The 3rd Annual St. George’s Day Celebration Dinner took place at Maques in Duquesa. The members turned out in full evening dress style to be greeted with champagne and canapés to the sounds of the Royal Marines.
A superb 5 course dinner followed. The Guest Speaker, Able Seaman Downes, reminisced on former St. George’s Day events and told a few sea stories before the traditional napkin-waving rendition of ‘Land Of Hope And Glory’. It was all taken with a pinch of salt.
A charity raffle raised 1,500 Euros that went to the Manisha Child Welfare Foundation Nepal. The first prize, a luxury weekend in any city in Europe, went to the Renson table, well done! The evening drew to a close with dancing to ‘Rocking Johnny’.
The St. George’s Association’s next event will be on Sunday 7th September, a barbeque and buffet at the Estepona Palace Hotel. Details to follow.
