In the UK, Convolvulus, or bindweed, is a rapidly spreading weed with white flowers that chokes the plants up which it grows. Worldwide it is one of the more successful plants with over 250 different species growing in temperate areas right through to tropical areas. In Andalucia there are at least three species of Convolvulus, all of which are widespread. This one is Convolvulus tricolor. The only resemblance to the UK plant is in the shape of the flower. It is a creeper that grows on poor disturbed soil, often sandy, and flowers between March and July.
This specimen was photograhed at Bolonia. The flowers are funnel shaped, yellow in the centre with a white surround and blue around the margin.
