Bird Watching or Twitching in Andalucia Southern Spain

July 2006, Dupont's Lark, Cersophilus duponti

duponts lark

Looking very similar to, and about the same size as, a skylark, Dupont's lark can be recognised in two ways. First its beak is a lot longer and slightly curved and secondly it is very reluctant to fly, preferring to run and hide behind tussocks and rocks. In Andalucia you will be lucky to see this bird anywhere but in the Cabo de Gata where it feeds on small insects and seeds.
